About Valerie Empey
Independent R.D.H
Welcome to my website, Something To Smile About! My name is Valerie Empey and I am a warm, dedicated, friendly, organized and detail oriented hygienist with 18 years experience providing gentle, thorough and meticulous cleanings.
My skills, education and clinical experience allow me to provide my clients with the highest standards of care in preventing gum disease and tooth decay. My passion for the dental field first began in my teenage years… I always knew that this is what I wanted to do, having a strong interest in health care and enjoying the idea of being able to help others achieve their oral health and overall health goals.
My education began at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, where I completed the two year, Dental Assisting Level 2 program with honors in 2002….but I didn’t want to stop there. I enrolled into the two year Dental Hygiene program the following year and received my diploma for Dental Hygiene in 2004. I bravely accepted my first full time job position as a hygienist six hours away from home and moved to Madoc to see where this new path would lead me.
Shortly after moving here, I met my lovely husband Mike, we were married in 2008, built our home and had 2 children; Landen and Nevaeh. I also have a huge love for animals and the rest of my family includes: 3 horses, 3 dogs and 2 cats. I developed a huge interest for the outdoors and enjoy fishing, camping, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, horseback riding and living life to the fullest. I love my country farm life and have found a new meaning of home in this small town.
I am a loyal and hardworking employee who earned my experience in general practice, but I knew my career was not going to end there. I had a burning desire to fulfill a dream of one day practicing as a Independent Hygienist. So here I stand today, proud owner and operator of Something To Smile About. A place where I can offer the best in quality of care, take pride in my profession and with the services I provide. I hope to build strong client relationships, where I can spend all the time necessary to meet each individuals needs and where my focus can be on treatment and prevention of oral disease to ensure better overall health. I am thrilled to have turned this once so called dream into a reality and I hope I have the opportunity to be your dental hygiene health care provider.
I am currently a member of the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association, the Ontario Dental Hygienists Association and as required by law, I am governed and registered under the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario where I hold a certification to practice under Self Initiation.
“Every visit will leave you with a smile!”
