Approximately 2.9% of a population of 100 000 become positive for some form of oral cancer. They key is to get checked once a year. Every  patient will receive a thorough intra oral and extra oral cancer screening. At Something To Smile About, we also use the best technology available to help identify the possible change in cells. The unit that is used to do so is called VELscope. It works by omitting a safe and visible blue light into the oral cavity, which causes the tissues to fluoresce, enhancing the practitioners ability to quickly identify suspicious tissue or oral mucosa abnormalities or patterns that may require further investigation. If necessary, referrals to appropriate health care providers will be made.
